Jess Bird is a self taught artist + illustrator, making magic in her hometown of Rochester, NY. She started her instagram and shop Bless the Messy in 2014, in an effort to connect back to herself and others during the darkness of depression. Exposing herself as a messy, in process human figuring it out; she uses her illustrations to convey what she’s learning, how she’s feeling, and how she moves through the world around her. Her hope is that people feel seen, validated, and less alone. Bless the Messy started in a closet (both literally and figuratively) and with her personal coming out, has grown into an online space where people can connect to each others stories and experiences through art.

Jess began hosting events, classes, kids camps, and training’s for LGBTQIA+ education and self-healing and understanding through creativity. She feels honored to create safe spaces in which kids and adults alike can ask questions, explore their creativity, and re-immerse themselves in play and expression without judgment and expectation.

Jess is working on her first book to be published 2025 with, Simon Element.

hi. so glad you’re here.

When she’s not making art Jess can be found constantly rearranging the furniture in her house, talking to her plants, bringing blueberries to her chickens, reading graphic novels, drinking far too much coffee, and snuggling her kids as long as they’re willing.
